Thanksgiving in Vermont

The state's natural beauty, with its rolling hills, picturesque towns, and vibrant fall foliage, adds a special charm to the holiday season. On this road trip with Mom, we explored the changing of the leaves, driving through Boston, Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire. Here's what you can expect and enjoy when celebrating Thanksgiving in New England.

1. Fall Foliage: Vermont is famous for its stunning fall foliage. Even though Thanksgiving typically falls in late November when much of the vibrant foliage has fallen, you can still enjoy the remnants of autumn colors in some areas. The countryside and scenic drives can be especially beautiful.

2. Traditional Feasts: Many restaurants and inns throughout Vermont offer traditional Thanksgiving feasts. These meals often inc

lude roast turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and a variety of seasonal side dishes. Be sure to make reservations in advance as these places can get quite busy.

3. Outdoor Activities: Depending on the weather, you might have the opportunity for outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing (if there's early snowfall), or simply enjoying the crisp fall air.

4. Local Products and Craft Fairs: Vermont is known for its local food products, such as cheese, maple syrup, and craft beer. You can visit local farms, farmer's markets, and craft fairs to purchase unique and locally-made gifts or ingredients for your Thanksgiving meal.

5. Scenic Drives: The state's winding roads and scenic byways provide excellent opportunities for taking in the beauty

of the Vermont landscape. The Route 100 corridor, for instance, is renowned for its picturesque views.

6. Quiet and Relaxing Atmosphere: Vermont is known for its peaceful and tranquil setting, making it an ideal place to relax and unwind during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thanksgiving in Vermont can be a delightful experience, offering a balance between traditional holiday celebrations and a connection to nature and the state's unique charm. It's an excellent place to escape the hustle and bustle of larger cities and appreciate the beauty of New England during the fall season.
